Competition against peer-to-peer networks
In this paper, we consider the competition of providers of information products against P2P networks that offer illegal versions of the information products. Depending on the generic cost factor of downloading—incorporating factors including, among other things, the degree of legal enforcement of intellectual property rights—we find that the firm may employ pricing strategies to either deter th...
متن کاملAttacks Against Peer-to-peer Networks and Countermeasures
Peer-to-peer (P2P) networks have many distinct aspects that are different from traditional client-server networks. The most significant point is that each peer acts as both server and client roles in P2P network. In other words, there is no central server that used for storing the files and providing download. All nodes download files directly from other peers. P2P networks contain ad hoc, dece...

متن کاملHierarchical Peer-to-Peer Networks
In this paper, we describe a hierarchical architecture that can potentially scale peer-to-peer (P2P) networks to large numbers of peer nodes and contents. Two principles are followed: network routing reflects content clustering, and content placement reflects usage locality. We reason how these principles can lead to scalable P2P networks, and show techniques of implementing them.
